Your Therapy Experience Is My Top Priority
My professional work centers around one main goal: to provide the best therapy services possible to as many people as I can. My success depends upon two priorities:
Connection. I strive to understand and connect with people as they are, and help them access scientifically supported methods for improving mental health and pursuing wellness.
Prioritize client well-being. I work hard to understand and improve all aspects of accessing and utilizing mental health services, with the client’s experience as the top priority.
I have over ten years’ experience offering direct clinical services to all ages in numerous outpatient settings. In addition to thousands of direct hours with clients, I have also spent the last decade working as a leader, administrator, consultant, grant writer, and supervisor. I’ve chosen roles largely focused around improving patient satisfaction and outcomes, implementing trauma-informed care, and overseeing ethical use of technology.
What to Expect In Therapy
My experiences have taught me the importance of celebrating and utilizing authenticity, intuition, humor, and compassion as primary tools for connection and change.
Our work will always start with forming a real, trusting relationship. After developing that relationship, our work will center around defining what you think is helpful. It will always be my job to hear you and understand you. I may offer suggestions and feedback, but the direction, depth, and pace of therapy will always ultimately be up to you.
Our work will include:
exploring the ways in which you anticipate and react to the world around you
understanding why your mind and feelings do what they do
learning how to make the most out of your tendencies and strengths
We will make sure anything you take from therapy fits into your real life. Your therapy will not only focus on trying to feel better, but also on connecting with the things and people in your life that are most worth living for.
Who I Work With
For a more complete list of my training and treatment areas, please see below. I see patients ages 16 and up, with a particular focus on college students, professionals, and new parents.
I welcome those affected by trauma, as well as those experiencing stress that impacts the way they think, feel, and manage their daily lives.
I also welcome partners seeking to heal, grow closer, advance their relationship, or problem-solve together.
Breakwater Psychotherapy, LLC welcomes and affirms members of the LGBTQIA and BIPOC communities, as well as any other groups who struggle for the support, acceptance, and recognition they deserve.
Initiating a Therapy Relationship
I appreciate that starting therapy is a personal and complicated decision for most people. I also recognize that, whether you are new to therapy or not, beginning a relationship with someone new often comes with curiosity, hope, and skepticism.
However you feel about learning more or starting services, your feelings are valid and I will honor them. I welcome the chance to get to know you and see if we can work well together.
