Dr. Ian Silbert
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Boca Raton, FL
Overview
I have molded into my practice operating as an individual therapist, family therapist, couples therapist and group therapist. I have over 10 years of training and over 36 years of experience providing psychotherapy to individuals of all ages, from children to adolescents to adults and to the geriatric population.
I have extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychological care. In addition, I have had the profound experience of serving as a teacher, a lecturer, a supervisor and mentor to others who have chosen this career path to provide help, compassion and guidance to others.
Therapy is difficult. It involves a commitment to an often unknown process never before experienced by the client. The relationship between therapist and client is intricate. I try to provide my clients with a safe and comfortable environment to share; a compassionate environment of support, clarity, understanding, motivation, trust, and encouragement.
Together we will explore ways to move forward, understand yourself more, feel comfortable in expressing your feelings and, ultimately in making positive and productive decisions and changes in your life.
Training and Career
I see patients from ages 0 to over 99 years. I specialize in treating the entire range of Anxiety Disorders such as
Generalized Anxiety
Panic Disorder
Social Phobia
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
I have extensively worked with individuals with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) helping them to learn specific behavioral tools to combat and eliminate intrusive unwanted thoughts (Obsessions) and associated behaviors (Compulsions).
I also see patients with co-occurring issues especially issues with Depression and difficulty with adjusting to change loss and grief.
For many years a large percentage of my practice has been working with children. Children require a great amount of structure and consistency as well as a solid support system. With children I utilize both talk and play therapy and the involvement of the parental system is crucial to a child's success.

“The more you know yourself, the more patience you have for what you see in others.”
